A 12-week early intervention program for children aged 8 to 12 is being delivered in Deception Bay through Deception Bay Neighbourhood Centre.
Early Intervention Program In Deception Bay
A targeted program known as STEP-UP is now operating in Deception Bay, focusing on children showing early signs of antisocial behaviour and social disengagement.
The initiative includes group mentoring sessions and works directly with families to strengthen connections between young people, their homes, and schools. Its core focus is on developing accountability and improving emotional regulation at an early stage.

Part Of Broader Regional Support
The Deception Bay program forms part of a wider rollout of early intervention initiatives across Greater Brisbane.
Four organisations received more than $1 million in shared funding to deliver programs across Brisbane City, Moreton Bay and Redlands. These initiatives are designed to engage at-risk youth through structured support, including mentoring, education-focused activities, and skill development.
Other funded programs include practical mentoring activities for younger participants and music-based engagement designed to support emotional development and social connection.
Role Of Deception Bay Neighbourhood Centre
Deception Bay Neighbourhood Centre is delivering the local program, continuing its long-standing role within the community.
Established in 1992, the centre operates as a local hub providing services, activities and initiatives aimed at improving social inclusion, employment opportunities and community development. It works with residents, families and community groups to deliver programs that respond to local needs.
