Moreton Bay residents are being called upon to fire up their ovens and whip up a storm of cupcakes this September in support of the RSPCA’s yearly Cupcake Day fundraiser in Dakabin.
Held annually, Cupcake Day provides a delightful excuse to rally friends, family, or colleagues at home, school, or work and bake to combat animal cruelty.
Dakabin’s Mini Market
The dedicated team and volunteers from RSPCA Dakabin will join the Cupcake Day festivities, hosting a mini market on 14 September. This event will showcase various delectable baked goods, a second-hand market, raffles, and other exciting activities, all supporting animal welfare.
Every Dollar Makes a Difference
For those unable to attend the mini-market, online donations are warmly welcomed. Every dollar counts, with donations ranging from providing a warm bed and care for a shelter animal to cover the cost of antibiotics for an animal recovering from surgery, transporting animals to shelters with higher adoption rates, or desexing a kitten to help manage the stray population.
Elsewhere, various activities will take place across the South East Queensland.

There are five straightforward steps: signing up, planning the event with the host tools, promoting the paw-ty, preparing the ingredients, and finally, hosting the party to raise funds.
Every Cupcake Counts
RSPCA spokesperson Emma Lagoon emphasised the significance of every contribution, encouraging individuals to nominate their baking enthusiasts to whip up treats for donations. She admired the animal lovers who channel their creativity into fundraising efforts, providing crucial support to the countless animals in RSPCA’s care.
Bruno’s Story: A Cupcake Day Success
Last year alone, over 87,000 animals sought assistance from the RSPCA, including 42,949 in Queensland. Funds raised from Cupcake Day will be instrumental in aiding animals like Bruno, one of ten puppies abandoned at a Moreton Bay property.
Sadly, two of the puppies succumbed to untreated health issues, but thanks to the tireless efforts of RSPCA staff and volunteers, eight puppies, including Bruno, found loving homes forever, thanks to the generosity of Cupcake Day fundraisers.
