Marvel Crafts and Plush Giveaways Head to Westfield North Lakes

Spider-Man bookmarks, Hulk slime and personalised tote bags are among the free activities heading to Westfield North Lakes, with a small daily giveaway adding another reason for Marvel fans to stop by during the school holidays.

The program runs from 28 September to 3 October, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day, between Concierge and Boost Juice. A different activity is scheduled across the six-day run.

Start with Spider-Man

The week opens with Spider-Man bookmark-making on Monday before switching to Marvel door signs on Tuesday.

From Wednesday to Friday, children can customise their own tote bags, while Hulk slime takes over the final session on Saturday.

The sessions are free and sit within a broader school holiday program at the centre, which also includes other family activities and entertainment.

Plush toys while stocks last

Westfield members can also redeem a reversible Marvel plush at the activity station while stocks last.

The giveaway is available from 28 September to 3 October, with 30 plush toys available each day and a total allocation of 180. Members must also enter the Hong Kong Disneyland competition to redeem one, with a maximum of two plush toys per member per day.

Hong Kong prize runs separately

A second promotion gives Westfield members the chance to win a Marvel-themed family holiday to Hong Kong Disneyland.

Entries are open from 17 September to 11 October, with one Australian winner to receive a trip valued at up to $9,245 for two adults and two children aged two to 11.

The prize includes return flights, accommodation and park tickets, while the North Lakes craft program finishes earlier, on Saturday, 3 October.

Saturday ends with Hulk

The final day shifts away from bookmarks and tote bags and ends the week with Hulk slime. Activities run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the plush giveaway also continuing while daily stocks last.

Archery, Alpacas and Free Family Fun Planned for North Lakes School Holidays

North Lakes families searching for budget-friendly ways to entertain children during the winter school holidays will have dozens of free activities to choose from. Moreton Bay has released its winter program across regional libraries, galleries, museums, and recreation venues, offering a mix of sporting, educational, and creative experiences.

Target Archery and Active Programs

Children keen to get moving can try new experiences through the Active Holidays program. Highlights include supervised target archery sessions, hip hop dance, tennis, junior boxing, multicultural games, and survival skills.

Mayor Peter Flannery said the program is designed to keep young people active and engaged during the break while creating opportunities to spend time with friends and family.

Alpacas and Hands-On Heritage

Animal lovers can head to selected libraries for the Winter Woollies program. Featuring visits from alpacas and babydoll lambs, the sessions teach children where wool comes from and how it is transformed into everyday products. Families can also watch demonstrations of carding (preparing raw fibres) and spinning yarn.

For more hands-on history, the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum will host its popular Farmyard Family Fun Day, alongside creative projects like crafting illuminated LED story lanterns.

Tech, Magic, and Creativity at the Library

Beyond books and animals, regional libraries are hosting a broad schedule of interactive workshops to build creativity and confidence, including:

165-Metre Flying Fox Among Highlights at Jungle Adventure Play North Lakes

A 165-metre flying fox, the longest in the Southern Hemisphere, is one of the standout attractions at Jungle Adventure Play, a massive new $20-million indoor play centre now open in North Lakes.

A Hub for Family Fun in North Lakes

The new facility, located at 2 McLennan Court, boasts an impressive array of activities, including climbing walls, a high ropes course, ninja courses for both children and adults, and expansive indoor playgrounds. Adding to the entertainment, there’s a licensed restaurant, an indoor and outdoor café, and a Tiki bar, ensuring something for all ages. Future plans include a mini golf course, set to open in 2025.

One of the standout features is “The Hawk,” a flying fox that stretches 165 metres, making it the longest in the Southern Hemisphere. Visitors can zip at speeds of up to 22 km/h, soaring nearly 10 metres above the ground both indoors and outdoors.

Supporting the Local Community

The project was driven by local entrepreneurs Lachlan and Jana Walker, who aimed to create a family-focused space that promotes physical activity and social connection. The couple chose North Lakes for its community appeal, where nearly half of households include children. They described the venue as a place where kids can build confidence and strength while having fun away from screens.

This second location builds on the success of their first Jungle Adventure Play centre in Tingalpa, which has welcomed over 1.1 million visitors in four years. The North Lakes venue is expected to have a similar impact, contributing $4.3 million annually to the local economy and creating over 90 jobs.

A Space for All Occasions

The centre is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays until 8 pm, making it an accessible option for both families and corporate events. With the festive season approaching, the venue is preparing to host functions and gatherings, further connecting with the local community.
