A North Lakes taekwondo school, PK Taekwondo, sent 32 athletes and six coaches to the Australian Taekwondo National Championships in Canberra and came home with 25 medals.
Results From Canberra

The championships ran 1 to 4 October 2026, at Exhibition Park in Canberra. The North Lakes squad left with nine gold, seven silver and nine bronze medals.
Isaac Hagen and Juwon Han each won two golds. Jumi Nam, Lucas Garland, Elanor Dexter, Jimmy Dexter and Xavier Randall took one apiece. Jumi also added a bronze, so that athlete finished with two medals.
Silver went to Daham Warakaulle, Alex Hinton, Sophia Martin, Sovereign White, Jesitha Appuhamilage, Jasper Song and Jiyeon Yoo. The other bronze medallists were Liam Sevenster, Kayla Park, Hazel Han, Amal Warakaulle, Jumyung Nam, Bryson Song, Andrew Wang and Aria Lim.
Head instructor Kangho Park praised the athletes for their hard work, dedication and achievement in representing Queensland and Moreton Bay at national level.
A Young Club With a Growing Record

PK Taekwondo opened its full-time centre on Flinders Parade in North Lakes in January 2021. The suburb sits in the Moreton Bay region, north of Brisbane. Park serves as head coach, and students train in sparring, poomsae (the forms side of the sport) and para-poomsae. The coaching group has included Anuke Warakaulle, Alan Garland, Seunghun Nam, Kirk Russell and Chris Hinton.
The Road to Canberra

Canberra is not the club’s first national trip. At an earlier national championships in Perth, 12 competitors and three coaches returned with 10 medals, four of them gold.
The 2025 season brought more. Before that year’s nationals, 33 competitors and nine coaches won 18 gold, 10 silver and three bronze at the Brisbane Open. Twenty-one club members also qualified for the nationals through the Queensland State Selections, a number believed to be a club record.
Those athletes then headed to Adelaide in October 2025. Eighteen of them, with six coaches, collected three gold, two silver and seven bronze medals. Han and Young Park won their golds in sparring, while Hayden Downing took gold in para-poomsae. The club has also won para-poomsae gold at the state selections and at the nationals.
How Canberra Compares
So how does Canberra stack up? It beats the 10 medals from Perth and the 12 from Adelaide by a wide margin. Han has now won national gold in two separate years. For North Lakes families, the 25-medal tally is a result to celebrate close to home.
