Mueller College‘s Rothwell campus will open its gates to the public twice in the space of a fortnight, with a fete expected to draw thousands of visitors and a full-length production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast to follow.
The Mueller Fete will take place on Saturday 18 July, followed by Beauty and the Beast on 31 July and 1 August.
These events showcase a school that has grown steadily since opening on 30 January 1990 as a ministry of Mueller Community Church and now enrols more than 1,800 students from Prep to Year 12.
Mueller Fete — 18 July
The Mueller Fete returns on Saturday 18 July from 11:30am to 6:30pm, with a giant Ferris wheel, show rides, sideshow alley, pony rides, an animal farm and show bags among the headline attractions.
The event regularly draws more than 5,000 people and is free to enter.
Entertainment this year includes a wildlife show, face painting, food trucks, market stalls, live music from Brisbane band Smashing Bumpkins and student band Mueller Worship, a live auction, and the chance to have a photo with Bluey.
A fireworks finale rounds out the day at 6:15pm.
Head of College Paul Valese said the fete had grown every year and this one would be no exception. “This year, you can expect even more big show rides and entertainment than ever before,” Valese said. “The goal is to create a fun and affordable day out for the wider community.”

Beauty and the Beast — 31 July and 1 August
Less than two weeks after the fete, more than 70 students from Years 7 to 12 will take the stage at the Mueller Performing Arts Centre for a full-length production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, described by the school as its most ambitious musical yet.
The MPAC, which opened in 2009 and seats 1,000 people, has established itself as a genuine regional performance venue — making it an appropriate home for a production that adds a live orchestra to the mix for the first time in the college’s musical history.
Show Director and Head of Arts Simon Ratcliffe said the decision to scale up was deliberate. “A full-length production with a live orchestra was our next step in musicals and the Mueller community has really risen to the opportunities this has presented,” Ratcliffe said.
Year 11 student Charlotte Bird plays Belle, the kind-hearted heroine at the centre of the story. “The best part of being in the musical is I really enjoy the culture,” Bird said. “It’s really exciting to come together as a family cast. This show’s cast is special because everyone is a perfect fit for their character.”
Three performances are scheduled: Friday 31 July at 6pm, Saturday 1 August matinee at 1pm, and Saturday 1 August closing show at 6pm. Tickets are $28 and available here.
