The 2026 student leaders at Undurba State School in Murrumba Downs have left something behind that future students will see long after this year’s leaders have moved on — a new set of flagpoles for their school.
Describing the installation as a legacy gift, the school praised the students for their generosity, leadership and school pride.
The flagpoles were installed by 8 October, when the school announced the contribution and thanked its student leaders for giving something lasting to the school community.
A Gift That Will Outlast Their School Years
Every year, student leaders take on responsibilities, organise activities and represent their classmates. Most of those moments become memories once the school year ends.
For Undurba’s 2026 leaders, the new flagpoles are something tangible they have contributed to their school.
The installation adds a new feature to the school grounds, one that will become familiar to younger students as they progress through their own school years.
The school’s October announcement celebrated the students’ contribution and the legacy they had created.
More Than Wearing a Leadership Badge
At Undurba State School, being a student leader involves more than standing at the front of assemblies.
Students help organise school activities, support younger pupils and take part in initiatives intended to improve school life.

The school’s leadership programme encourages students to demonstrate its I CARE values, with responsibilities extending from everyday acts of service to representing Undurba at community events.
For the 2026 leadership group, the flagpoles have become a visible contribution to the school they have helped represent throughout the year.
Something for the Next Generation
As the school year draws to a close, Undurba’s 2026 leaders will eventually hand their responsibilities to another group of students.
The flagpoles, however, will remain as a reminder of their contribution.
Future students may come to know them simply as part of the school grounds, without necessarily knowing the story behind their installation.
For this year’s leaders, they represent something they have left for those who follow.
